Years of documenting the city’s expat community, day and night
Over the years, I’ve spent days and nights photographing gatherings across Guangzhou’s expat community — brunches, rooftop parties, afternoon meetups, late-night partys. People from every corner of the world, ending up in the same room, the same table, the same dance floor. Different languages, different backgrounds, all finding common ground over good food, good music, and better company.
What I love most about shooting these events is watching how quickly a room comes together. A toast in one language gets echoed in another. Someone teaches a dance move, someone else is deep in conversation they’ll probably forget by morning — or by the next round of coffee. It’s Guangzhou at its most international — and some of the most joyful, unfiltered moments I’ve ever captured.
